Most safety deficiencies we see are not missing equipment. They are equipment whose paperwork expired quietly while the vessel was trading.
Intervals worth memorising
Liferafts annually, with extensions only by approved scheme. Portable extinguishers annually with a pressure test every ten years. EEBDs per maker, typically annual. Immersion suits annually, with a seam air test every three years from the third.
The certificate is the deliverable
A serviced unit without a service report from an approved station is, to an inspector, an unserviced unit. Check the station's approval covers your flag, and that the report lists serial numbers matching the ones aboard.
Batch it against the trading pattern
Renewals stacked into a single UAE call cost less than four scattered ones, and avoid the situation where a unit goes ashore for service on the day the vessel sails.
- Send serial numbers with the service request
- Confirm flag state and class before booking
- Ask for the report before the vessel sails
